In a little over six months, we should discover the 2023 iPhones planned by Apple. Here’s everything we’ve heard about the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus or iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max.
The Screen
As in 2022, with the four iPhone 14s, Apple should offer a quartet of iPhone 15s. An iPhone 15 Pro Max, a giant iPhone 15 Plus, and the iPhone 15 Pro and “he “classic” iPhone 15, with a little more than 6 inches at the withers. But you should know that the screens of the future iPhones of 2023 should be a bit wider than those of the iPhone 14. We are only talking here about a few tenths of an inch at most, “so the change will not necessarily be visible at first glance.
Eye. On the other hand, on the brightness side, users of the iPhone 15 Pro Max could be surprised: the mobile is likely to reach two thousand five hundred units of maximum power. Enough to allow use in full sun without a problem. As a bonus, other rumors have announced that the iPhone 15 could be twice as resistant, thanks to stronger glass designed by Corning (the Victus 2).
The manufacturer’s Gorilla Glass windows have been fitted to the front of Apple mobiles for many years to fight against scratches and shocks. For its part, the touch screen is entrusted, in particular to subcontractors Samsung, BOE Electronics (to manufacturers), and LG Display. Brands whose reputation is well established and which have, in any case, already been seen on board previous models.
Dynamic Island For Everyone
In order not to stray too far from the subject, we have also learned that Apple will finally intend to offer its Dynamic Island to all owners of high-end iPhones released at the end of 2023. Of course, this information must also be considered cautiously because the Cupertino giant has not officially confirmed anything. However, multiple patents and leaks tend to validate the case, which, the “before, “seems more and more likely. Eventually, we may even be entitled to a collection of smartphones with cameras and Face ID under the screen, but not before 2027.
Improved Performance On iPhone 15 Pro
Now, let’s move on to performance. In all likelihood, the iPhone 15 Plus and the “classic” iPhone 15 will be equipped with the same chip as the iPhone 14 Pro and the iPhone 14 Pro Max, namely the A16 Bionic chip, already very efficient today and which will probably not be out of fashion by then. It probably has the same amount of RAM under the hood. But for the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max (or iPhone 15 Ultra, as you like), Apple would have provided a more efficient motherboard, which we imagined manufactured the A17 Bionic chip.
Expect +20 or +30% for benchmark results, but no more. With this, analysts are banking on the arrival of Wi-Fi 6E to offer a better connection at home, as for the MacBook Pro and the most recent iPads. As for 5G, the clues still point to a modem designed by Qualcomm, as before.
The Thorny Issue Of USB-C
Recently, the European Union decided that all smartphone brands that sell their devices on the Old Continent must offer the same charging socket. It turns out that the chosen format is USB-C. A technology already favored by Apple for its Macs or its iPad Pro, and which could, therefore, eventually replace the Lightning on the iPhone. Only here it is: it turns out that, in reality, our leaders have imposed a deadline to get up to speed.
This corresponds to the end of 2024, which, in theory, will allow Apple to wait for the iPhone 17 to comply with the regulators’ rules. Still, plenty of leaked photos suggest USB-C will be coming to the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro, but nothing is certain yet. In any case, if proven, it will be “necessary” to have an MFi-certified cable to benefit from the fastest energy transfers and ditto for the files. It’s a practice perhaps blocked by the European Union there, too.
No Faster Charging?
By the way, speaking of charging, we haven’t heard of any significant improvements for the next iPhones until now except perhaps about the arrival of the Qi 2 standard for wireless. However, it is assumed that reverse charging will be part of it, but only for the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. With this, all models could be autonomous, allowing them to last longer than the iPhone 14 and the iPhone 14 Pro. The USB-C port will also be used for data transfer, with Thunderbolt 4 technology up to 40 Gbit per second.
A New Design!
Design-wise, the iPhone 15 Pros might be a little thicker than expected, though the prominent rear camera module would lose some plumpness despite a change in layout. However, the width and length of the casing wouldn’t change, but as the screen will undoubtedly be more significant, the bezels around it will be reduced. We would especially note a substantial makeover at the level of the buttons, which would switch to all-touch (like Touch ID on the third-generation iPhone SE) without the traditional physical volume controls.
Compatibility with gloves would be provided. Still, for the edges, these would be more rounded, enough to clash entirely with the sharp edges of the iPhone 14. Finally, recent bets are betting on a brand new dark red color and a green, and the back side of the iPhone 15 would be made of frosted glass. An additional button would also be included, as on the Apple Watch UltIt’sith the one called Action.
Improved Camera On iPhone 15 Pro
Beyond the external appearance, everything led to believe that future standard bearers will be equipped with a “periscope” lens, the format of which would take up less space than today while allowing a better zoom, perhaps up to x5 in optics. But ultimately, we would have to wait for the iPhone 16 Pro. The LiDAR, now manufactured by Sony, would also be revisited for augmented reality and more successful night shots, thanks to an aperture capturing more light. On the definition side, each model would have forty-eight megapixels on the counter.
Storage
The iPhone 15 could be available in 256 GB, 512 GB, or 1 TB, and the iPhone 15 Pro in 256 GB, 512 GB, 1 TB, and 2 TB.
